Took her to the vet. Ferrel as ferrel gets. Could become tame if you like cats and want to work with them. (I don't.) But I also have a heart and didn't want to see her get hurt again. So Sandy Vet suggested we take her to the Multnomah County Animal Shelter. So we did!
Told them the story of Stann's escapade getting her rescued from the tree. They LOVED it and said for sure people will eat this up and want to adopt her. (It's a her, by the way...) So we took the now "Bobbi" and gave her to them. She seemed okay! Told them there was a possibility she was ferrel but the vet said she was tameable. They concurred.
Fast forward two days later. I get a call from the Shelter, basically saying Bobbi's not playing nice with the humans or other cats. So, we have 3 choices: #1) Come and pick her up and care for her ourselves. #2 Find a family that is willing to take her and work with her. #3Humanely Euthanize her. They were involving us in the decision making - mainly because they didn't want us coming back and sicking the press on them - causing animal lovers everywhere to unite and cause problems for the shelter. All their current Foster Homes were full. We knew they'd tried their best so, I got on the phone with Stann - we called everyone we could think that might want a good mouser cat that day and night....No bites. (ha, ha, lame joke)
Stann and I finally agreed, the best thing for her was to be humanely euthanized. It broke my heart a little - but with us trying to sell the house, having two babies under age 2, and our various other roles we have, we wouldn't be able to give her the care she needed. Friday, they put her down. It's very sad, but at the thought of her getting run over, eaten by coyotes, raccoons or other creatures....it seemed like the best solution. Life kinda sucks some days!
