Bare with me....my phone camera was super fuzzy...
But here are the boys in all their Halloween glory.
My knights in shining armour....
We trick or treated with some of our friends - the Jensen's. Scooby Doo and Mr. Policeman had some great adventures with our boys!
Getting them to stay still was...challenging.
We went and visited our Gigi after...to trick or treat and to let her see her sweet great-grandsons.
Halloween brought excessive amounts of sugar and fun with our friends and family.
On another note: Matt had a procedure done just a week ago...It's called a "tongue un-tie" - Matt was born with a tethered tongue. Not uncommon. About a little over a month ago, Matt's speech teacher pulled me aside and said they'd done all they could do to help Matt with his speech without intervention. She asked if we would be willing to try getting an "un-tie" procedure done on Matt so that they could continue working with him - once the tongue had full range of motion. Lemme say this...Matt is a trooper!
We couldn't find a sitter for Josh, so he came with. We (Stann and I) left it up to Matt as to which parent went back for the procedure. (PREFACE: Matt was originally going to have this done as a surgical procedure. The doctor said they could also do it in-office, but that he'd never done this on a child as young as Matt in-office. Only under general anesthesia. We scheduled the procedure then found out after insurance we would be paying $600+ for the procedure. Out of curiosity, I asked how much it would be if done in office. After looking it up - the billing specialist said "Special Procedures fall under the office visit category, so you'll be responsible for your co-pay, which is $20." *smacking self on head* Um,we love you Matt...but this is a no brainer. Office visit it is!)
Stann went back with Matt, and I stayed with Josh in the waiting room. (We also had stopped at Toys R Us and let both boys pick out a toy - Josh got his once Matt went in and Matt got his after the procedure was finished). Stann said Matt went back there, got in the chair and waited. It wasn't until the nurse came in that he got a little whimpery...(who wouldn't?!) But as the doctor got the needle out to numb the tongue, Stann asked if there was a topical anesthetic he could give him before giving him the shot...the doctor was like "Oh, yeah! We do!" and sprayed him. He held still. Didn't move. Didn't cry. He said later he could smell smoke...that was from the scalpel? laser? cutter? that cut the frenulum and cauterized it as it went. The doctor said Matt was the youngest patient to do this in office, and he'd seen adults freak out more than Matt did. He was amazed that Stann didn't have to restrain him.
Anyway you put it...the boy did amazing and was brave! Stann and I told him he was a little like Joseph Smith - and related the story of when he was a little boy and had a leg infection.
He really liked that. :)
This is my brave boy after the procedure.
I also went with Matt on his field trip to the production of "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" - as adapted from the book - over at Mt. Hood CC. There were a TON of other schools there! I was given a group of 6 boys. LOL. Ms. Sudul said: "FYI...all of these boys have to go to the bathroom frequently..."
ANOTHER Side note: No one else had a group as big as mine! Most groups had 3 people! Lucky me?!
Matt and his best friend Davis.
Matt and me. :)
So blurry! The picture almost looks like a painting!
There was some "interactive" theatre.
And afterwards, we went to the Imagination Station for lunch. The kids got to play for about 15 minutes after eating before the skies opened up and started hailing.
Ahhh. Oregon - how we love your fickle weather!
Matt was fun to watch as he raced around with his friends....
Nate was fun to watch playing too. Aimee chaperoned too - Nate's class went with Ms. Sudul's.
Matt got to sit by another of his friends: Gavin.
All in all, I think he had a great time.
He wasn't too impressed with the play (to be honest, neither was I - it was LAME!) but he hung in there and was polite. (So was I - I know - a miracle!)
So much fun to be there for my boys! I love being a Mom - even if the activities we're involved in aren't my cup of tea... ;)
