Vote, Schmote! Let's get this over with already!!!!

Ugh. It's that time of year again....Elections. I, personally, am of the opinion, if you don't vote, you have no right to complain in how our nation is run.

I find myself in a conundrum. I do not care for either candidate. Neither have views that fully coincide with mine; BOTH double speak and BOTH are very accomplished evaders. HOWEVER....after reading portions of Obama's biography, I have to say, I am more inclined to vote for McCAIN. Not to mention, I did NOT like what Obama's wife had to say on Oprah. Or rather, HOW she said things. To me, she came across as racist....just my opinion folks...That's totally how she came across (as I heard them!) in her answers on TV.

I've seriously gotten into heated debates in the last few weeks with a couple of my siblings over the election topics. Talk about your hot buttons! Again, let me clarify....If YOU wanna vote for Obama, by all means, vote for him. We each need to be true to ourselves, and fight for our own ideals and values, as we see fit.

As for me, well, I REALLY don't want to see a Democrat in office. (no offense to my 'Democratic' friends...!) But one of the many, many reasons I want to see a Republican stay in office - is the gun control issue. Though I don't go around advertising, there have been situations, in which I've needed to defend myself, and I did so with a gun. And lest your imaginations run wild...NO...I've not shot at anyone, but I was able to protect myself AND my family with it.

I dislike the idea that a Democratic presidency would take my right to own a gun, or tell me just how many guns I can have. But this is a topic for another day, another debate.....! AND...I still firmly believe there IS an on-going war on terror. I have NOT forgotten 9/11. And I think its wrong, wrong, WRONG to sit back and watch others suffer when we can fight the 'oppression of tyranny'....(Sound familiar? Look it up folks...it's in our history books ya know...!) It may be naive, but, I think and believe that this country needs to return to its "roots" and lead this country the way our forefathers intended....(INTENDED being the operative word....!)

AGAIN....Getting back on topic....it's not that Obama isn't charismatic. Isn't that a pre-requisite for a politician? But as far as what I feel needs to happen with the economy, with our standing in the world, the war, stances on abortion, etc., I think McCain has a more realistic plan of what needs to happen with the economy, getting things back to "square one" - and in my opinion...Obama did a LOUSY job of answering "Joe the Plumber's"' questions....when put on the spot.

And later, after he consulted with his campaign manager and other team/supporters, it sounded like TOTAL DOUBLE SPEAK. Stann and I are soooo in the same boat as "Joe the Plumber"!!! And the day I actually see a tax break for the middle class put into effect by a Democrat.....(I'm sooo not holding my breath), well if that day comes around, I'll consider changing my stance on things.

If it weren't such a neck n' neck election, I'd much prefer to write in my own nominee on the ballot.

Is it too late to nominate someone who brings to mind loyalty, honesty, trustworthiness, and will fight for the rights of all, while excluding the vast deference that all seem to show (at least in this day and age!) for the minority beliefs/opinions that seem to rule this world, because no one wants to "offend" their fellow citizens, but have no problem offending God - or whatever higher power/supreme being that the majority (98%!) of Americans believe in?

If it's not then I'm voting for....

Not that he was perfect, mind you. But his character's showed just that....CHARACTER!

WHY, you might ask, would I nominate him?

*He's blunt - so you know where you stand...to quote my Dad..."He calls a spade a spade..."

*He's an advocate for your 2nd amendment rights....(had to interject that in there...!)

*He calls it how he sees it...and rights the wrongs. Or at least he was able to in the vast, vast majority of his movies! (hee, hee, hee!)

Yup...This year, if it weren't so terribly, terribly important, I'd be crossing off both candidates and adding "The Duke" in, instead....(LOL)
