“As you create a home, don't get distracted with a lot of things that have no meaning for you or your family. Don't dwell on your failures, but think of your successes. Have joy in your home. Have joy in your children. Have joy in your husband. Be grateful for the journey.” ~ Marjorie Pay Hinckley

Home Sweet Home....I think

We're in. Kind of. I have several points of contention though....so pardon me while I use the internet as my sounding board. Stann doesn't listen to this stuff and he takes it all the wrong way - even though it's just ME, venting.....

#1...Our previous renters - very nice people, so don't get me wrong - had pets. INSIDE my house. YUCK. I don't do pets inside houses. I like animals, but I firmly believe that's why we have barns. (I HATE pet hair. It's EVERYWHERE and it makes you just sneeze and generally feel as if you need to take a bath immediately once you get it on you.)

So, anyways, back from my tangent...we had to replace the carpet in the family room. There were pet stains EVERYWHERE. It smelled disgusting. Granted, I've got a very acute sense of smell - I can pick up all things "pet"....but it was gross. And they soooo didn't get their deposit back. (OK...so they didn't ask, but after having to replace the carpet....yep, you guessed it! Case closed.) AND, the other room that was just as gross as the family room - the garage. They had a cat and it SPRAYED my garage. I. HATE. CATS. So, this was like doubley.....EEWWW. We had to pressure wash everything and then put that epoxy type paint on the garage floor - just to get rid of the smell. But the faint smell is still there.

#2.....We switched out all our appliances with the stainless/black from the other house. Sink too. It looks good though! I'm now in the process of trying to find my sewing machine so I can A) get my squares made for a quilt I'm making with Carrie and Selena for RS; AND so I can make some roman shades for my kitchen. Come Here my nice little Sewing Machine....come heeeeerre....Sewing machine??? Where arrrrre yooooouuu?

#3....And this is the worst point of contention. Why did no one tell me that moving with toddlers was going to be so.....UGH?! And not just UGH, but UGH! Yeah, you heard me. I think that I would much prefer having a root canal with no numbing agent of any kind than to go through this again. And we're still not all in!!!! But that's #4, and I'm not ready to go there yet. The kids are NOT adjusting well. I'm up to my eyeballs in boxes in the garage, and during the time when my family (NICE, WONDERFUL, LOVING family!!!) has either taken Mischief and Mayhem or watched them at the house, we've accomplished a lot. But there's just so much left to do!!! We've tried to unpack with the kids here, but it's so counterproductive!?!!! My family has re-named Mischief. He's now known as "El Diablo" or "The dark-haired devil" in my parents home.

Please know - my children are highly rambunctious. I know that. Both my husband and I were as well. But Josh AND Matt have taken it to a whole different level.... And THIS IS WHY I haven't called anyone besides family to watch the kids. They're sooooo not handling this move well! Matt especially. There's been a lot of fit throwing. And screaming. And yelling. And temper tantrums. And the kids are doing it too! (ha, ha...j/k. I'd really like too though....!) And I could go on and on, but let's move on people....

#4....WHERE the *(#$*@ did all this STUFF come from?!!!!

I've been doing pretty good. Averaging about 1-4 boxes a day unpacking, sorting and getting rid of stuff. Getting rid of a lot of stuff. D.I. Trailer....here I come!!! I've been simplifying. Sorting. If there's not a space for it, and I haven't used it in the past year, it's gone. El finito. El throw awayo. G-O-N-E. GONE. I'm taking a page out of Jodi's book and I'm simplifying.

#5....I wish I'd had the camera when this happened....

Stann was moving my pretty stainless fridge over. They were swapping it from his truck bed to Josh's flat bed lift, so the moving would be easier. STANN let go of the fridge and it dropped 4 FEET onto the pavement. Did I mention there was food still inside of it? Oh yeah. There was FOOD inside of the fridge and freezer still at this point!!! :*( Guess who cleaned it up? If you're saying "Stann" because HE made the mess....you're WRONG. I did. And so, should you ever open up my fridge and smell pickles.....you now know WHY. Glass shards were everywhere. He shattered 3 drawers. I have to RE-grocery shop to get the basics. And it looked like a horrible bloody mess, because SALSA was in the bottom shelf and covered EVERYTHING. It was easily one of the more disgusting things I've had to do.

Now here's the kicker.....It (the fridge) still works. I oughta write the people at GE and tell them about it. ;) 'Cause it definately took a lickin' and is still tickin'....! You now have my full endorsement of the GE fridge.....the poor thing...! I'm thinkin' when the 2nd Coming is here.....I'll be somewhere NEAR or inside my fridge....! (just kidding.)

So there you have it! You're all caught up with our move. Well, the majority of the move we've made, anyways.

So, to quote Ty Pennington....."Welcome Home Family......Welcome Home!"
