The BIG BOY Bed....

Oh my goodness. The time is here! I can't believe how quickly it came tho! It really seems like I just blinked and my baby is turning 3! (Okay...not JUST yet....He turns 3 in October...!) But after waking up for the past 2 weeks with Matthew screaming bloody murder because he's decided to try and climb OUT of the crib....(which would've worked, had he chosen to escape on any other side than the one that faces the wall....!) Not that he fell - he just managed to pin himself between the crib and the wall....and now he has some scrapes and bruises on his back. Poor baby!

So, I bit the bullet, called around to my wonderful sisters....who ALL have boys BTW.....and Auntie Katie is letting us use Nik's old toddler bed. (THANK YOU Auntie Katie!!) It's toooo cute! It's a BLUE racecar. You've never seen a more enthralled child than Matthew! His sentences go something like this...

"Mommy? I seep in da bid boy bed? Ees bue! Ees a wace caw!! Matty bid boy Mommy! Matty no out in night. Matty stay in bid boy bed and Mommy, Daddy come!"

(The pics you see are of Josh and Matt playing together on the bed....they're really very cute and very good about playing nicely on the bed...so far....OH...and here's my disclaimers....! If you couldn't tell - we took down the normal curtains for this room. I decided to sell the boys' nursery stuff on EBay....so they're stuck with a piece of fabric on the window. AND....the radiator next to the bed is NOT plugged in. The plug is wrapped up tightly and is currently behind the dresser. Just in case anyone saw that and thought I was being an irresponsible parent!!! Not that it will matter - two weeks from now the radiator will be in our old garage....!)

TRANSLATION:



"Mommy? Guess what?! I'm a big boy now - I sleep in the big boy bed! It's blue! It's a racecar! I'm not supposed to get out at night. If I need Mommy or Daddy, I'll call and then you'll come, okay?"



It's REALLY too cute. He still talks a little toddler gibberish - but he's amazingly articulate for a 2 1/2 year old. :) (Is this when I start patting myself on the back??! j/k!)



Anyways....He's just too happy about it. AND....he has slept in the bed 3 nights now (and for naps too!) and he's been obedient! He stays in his bed and calls out "Mommy! Need you!" to get permission to come out of bed, during the hours of 12pm-2pm and 9pm to 7am. It's like he's got an internal clock or something!! I'm just hoping he sticks with it!!!



And, I have to say it....I'm totally surprised that he has been this obedient thus far. Stann was pretty against it....it seemed as if we'd be asking for trouble! But again....I'm just so proud of Matt! GOOD JOB my baby boy!!! :)
