I am so excited! Stann has found a job (yay!) working for TCI (Thermal Coatings International) he's based out of Washougal, WA, and while we briefly considered moving to Washington to shorten his now hour long commute...we thought again.
I'm overjoyed at the thought that we now have a permanent job. :) I'm excited that he has some semblance of job security (TCI is one of 3 companies in North America that do the specialized work in various mills across: Canada, the United States, Mexico and South America. See? Job security.) I'm grateful that he works with such awesome guys. (All but one are active LDS members, who are great and everyone has been really good about helping Stann acclimate).
The down side - and the strongest reason for his 1 hour commute - he'll be out of town....A LOT. In the next two weeks, he'll head to Connecticut for 2 weeks. There's a possibility his trip may compound into a month...And while wonderful because of the job security and $ that we will continue to put in our downpayment fund....it means that I will shoulder the majority of parenting - without many breaks. :/ Also another down side: I am not going to Spring or Summer term. This puts me behind a good year for applying to the nursing program. *sad* BUT....after fasting, prayer and much thought and deliberation, Stann and I agreed that we couldn't do that to the boys. They need some measure of continuity while Stann travels and that rests upon me. They can't have 2 parents gone during the day - they need me there. I'll be able to resume studying once Joshua is in Kindergarten - and I'll make my college schedule accordingly - to fit my school schedule within the time constraints of theirs. :)
So...there's good and bad. But the good far outweighs the bad!
The bright side? This summer there will be a lot of trips around the US with him. :) I know of 3 trips to Idaho that we'll be taking. I also know that we'll be making many trips to Utah, and Yellowstone and I'm excited to expose the boys to the many sights and wonders of the United States. Especially since I've never been further east than Utah. (lol)
So we're looking for a new home, in Sandy....close enough that Grandma's, Aunties and Uncles can help me fill in the cracks while Stann travels. I have to have my peep's help while he's gone.
And I'm really, truly grateful and excited to begin the next chapter in our lives!
