A couple of years ago, when we were dealing with Stann's Aunt Viv's house (his parents inherited the house when she passed away...and everything inside...) I came across a box of quilted pieces (little circles that were gathered and sewn together.)
Stann's Great Grandma Ruth McNamee had hand sewn and stitched all these little pieces together to make a quilt. It was never finished...and Aunt Vivian was an animal lover...so over the years...it acumulated a certain..."smell". (yuck!)
No one's really a quilter in the family....so they were going to throw them out. But I couldn't let them do it...and decided when I got some spare time, I'd try and figure out how to do them.
My friend Jodi at Pleasant-Home is an avid quilter. I saw her making pieces like the ones I was holding onto. So, when we had to move in April of 2010, I showed up on her doorstep with a box load of those pieces and gave them to her.
So...fast forward a couple of years and I get a call on my birthday from Jodi saying I have a present for my birthday. I go visit her and open THIS....
Isn't it gorgeous?! There were enough pieces there for TWO quilts. She pieced these all together and voila! Gave them to me and now I have a little piece of McNamee history! I was so amazed with it...she was able to get the animal smell off the quilt pieces, and it's just beautiful.
So thank you, once again, Jodi. You're amazing! And I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful friend as you!!!
