“As you create a home, don't get distracted with a lot of things that have no meaning for you or your family. Don't dwell on your failures, but think of your successes. Have joy in your home. Have joy in your children. Have joy in your husband. Be grateful for the journey.” ~ Marjorie Pay Hinckley

Week 2 of 12....and staying steady!!!

Updates, just like I promised. (I'm getting better at it....kinda...)

No big news to report. Although I gained some weight. (Urgh!) I'm told this is normal...to be expected...blah, blah, blah.

Doesn't matter. I still don't like it.

I've also adjusted my soda intake to NONE. No soda. Period. It was just too tempting to switch from a sprite to a coke...so I've decided to abstain all together. It's just water, milk and juice. And please believe me when I say, my body is going through withdrawals. I've been drinking soda since I was 14; it was always available!! So my body is being asked to perform tasks it's not used to while being deprived of a substance its craved for 19 years. (That kinda puts things in perspective, eh?)

Exercising: I've walked once this past week with my friend Mel, at 6AM. (You can't doubt my dedication now!!) I've also gone on four walks with the boys for an hour....and filled in the gaps with Total Body Workout: Step Aerobics courtesy of my DVR and the BYU channel.

Ah, BYU channel. What would I do without you?

Eating Habits: Thankfully, since we're so tight with our budget, the trips to McDonald's have been few and far between. And I'm also very grateful they have the parfaits. And grilled chicken. :P

So far, the choices haven't come 'naturally'. I have to constantly think about what I'm putting into my mouth and make the appropriate subsitutions.

I think Fred Meyer's Produce Department has become the biggest fan of my change. We go through so much fruit! And carrots and celery. (The kids don't eat broccoli or cauli without ranch....and I'm not a big fan of it raw...and the ranch is too big a temptation...!)

So there you have it. I'm staying steady at two weeks and trying to reverse 30+ years (a lifetime!) of questionable eating habits.

Sidenote: My hormones are starting to level out! YAY! I'm not a big fan of HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) but my choices are slim. The percentages of women my age (younger than 40) who go without hormones after a total hysterecomy and go on to have cancer are staggering (upwards of 70% my doctor told me).

Not that its not without risks. The longer you're on artificial hormones, the more you put yourself at risk for other types of cancer.

So it's a classic Catch 22. Darned if you do and darned if you don't!

Anyways....I got an Estrogen shot yesterday at the doctors office. And got some bloodwork done.

Did any of you know the needle they use to inject the Estrogen is easily the size of a cattle prod?! AND....as if that wasn't insult enough...they stick you in your hiney?!

I do. NOW. And it stings. Like, I'm seriously not a wimp. I'm not. But it smarted enough that my eyes watered. There's a definite 'burning sensation' that is completely topical and does not go away. (Still smarting....) Though your pain levels adjust. And it made my butt cramp up. LOL. No joke. I canceled walking with Mel this morning because I had to take a muscle relaxer. (I'm getting old!) I made it up with the step aerobics though. After I'd slept off the muscle relaxer.

So....Here's to another good week....will keep you posted at the third week mark! :D
