“As you create a home, don't get distracted with a lot of things that have no meaning for you or your family. Don't dwell on your failures, but think of your successes. Have joy in your home. Have joy in your children. Have joy in your husband. Be grateful for the journey.” ~ Marjorie Pay Hinckley

Black Friday Report

Black Friday...you never disappoint!

You started even earlier this year too!  {I have to preface this by saying...I have been sick.  Like, full blown, head, throat, chest cold - have a temperature, hacking up a lung...sick.  I missed my folks' Thanksgiving because of this and Joshua's pneumonia (didn't hear about that?!  scroll down...) and I wasn't happy about it either.}

But I dragged my sick body out of its nice, warm, bed, to get the 'deals' on the boys' Christmas presents...

I needed to go to 4 stores.  I went to 3.  {THANK YOU MINDY....It's because of you I even got the little bit of sleep I got!!!}  Toys 'R' Us, Wal-mart, Target & Freddy's.

Mindy hit Toys'R'Us for me...I needed 2 items from there...Joshy's getting a Buzz Lightyear wing-pack (Shhhh...don't tell him!) and Matt, our resident imagination player...a Doctor's kit. (He's gonna be so excited!)

Wal-mart:  Why do I bother with you?
I hear from people I know that live in other areas - that your sales are phenomenalHowever, maybe it's just our geographical area/region - that has a lot of lower-class, impolite people?! (I only say 'lower-class' because I was able to use BOTH HANDS to count the number of women who had tattoo's on their...well...'bosoms' is the only nice way to put it...and I'm pretty sure...that may be a "class" distinction.)  Either way...I'm never going to the Wood Village Wal-mart on Black Friday again. It's not the staff.  But the people!?! We witnessed an altercation - about "cutting" in line and "grabbing" products from carts. {I wish I were joking!}

By the time we got there (2 am - it opened at 12:01am)  none of my items were left.

Target:  We got there 1 hour early.  The line was already assembled all along the front of the store, wrapping around the side....and I was positioned 3/4's of the way along the side wall.  It just kept growing, and growing, until finally I had to take this picture.  This was taken at 15 minutes before it opened:

I had moved up in line to almost at the corner of the building.  The line wrapped all the way around - hugging the side of the building, curving in a "U" type shape - following the side parking lot and lining the drive into the parking lot, finally stopping at the street.  It was CRAZY!!!

I have to give Target props.  They made an "entrance" using shopping carts all stuck together, hired outside security to make sure no one "cut" into the lines....and there were TONS of people (further back in line than I was) chanting "NO CUTTERS! NO CUTTERS! NO CUTTERS!"  Annoying as it was, I have to agree....I would've been extreeeeemely annoyed - having frozen my butt off - for only an hour - only to have the later arrivals cutting into the line and still getting the deals - without having to do the same work...!

I made out like a bandit at Target though!  :D  We picked up 5 razor scooters - 1 for my friend Mindy (since she had been so kind as to brave Toys R Us for her items as well as mine!), 2 for my boys, and 2 extra....I had bought 3 Spiderman Scooters, 2 "Hot Wheels" scooters....I wasn't sure which one Stann would want for the boys...and so we got both - and sure enough...he chose the Hot Wheels...and we'll either take those scooters back for a refund or ask around if anyone wants 'em. ;)  They were $17 each.  (Normally $44, so I was super excited!)  We also bought Joshua a twin comforter (he's going to be making a big-boy-bed-transition here soon....those toes are dangling off his toddler bed...!) and we got a Toy Story comforter for $18 (yay!).  And last but not least...our traditional Christmas Eve pajamas. :)  You gotta open something on Christmas Eve, right?!  The boys got a pair of pj's each...and I splurged and bought a suh-weet new red wallet, with white stitching...{too cute!}

Here's a picture of my stash of goodies...hidden at our neighbors house...{hee, hee, hee} we've already moved them...but I'm not saying where.... ;)

Fred Meyer's:  I didn't buy anything too exciting here...but I do have to tell ya...

I finally bought my purse!!!

And, it cost me {drumroll please.....}  $6.87

My $48 purse, was on sale for 50% off, I got to use one of my Rewards coupons for an additional 20% off, and then I used my rewards ($12.63) and only ended up paying $6.87 for it as the final cost!!

I also got "shaving" kits for the boys...buy one get one free...it worked out to be around $4.50/each. :)

The other stuff....socks at 50% off...it was all the yearly replacement stuff....but, I was really excited about my purse. :)

All in all...not a bad haul this year.  We were finished by 7 am...(Our traditional breakfast included - we went to Tollgate Inn - Mindy joined us there...) and when we got home, we were able to work on Christmas lights...I'll post pics of those later...! As well as a Thanksgiving report...!)
