A) It illustrates the point.
B) It's the right location.
C) It's the same kind of situation.
So, I don't think I've posted about this particular situation before, but to recap and bring you up to speed....

Here's a picture of David's truck. And this is the Road that I'll be talking about....but not the exact location on it.
David, my BIL, did a really stupid thing and got his truck stuck up Memaloose Road outside Estacada, a little bit before Thanksgiving, I think it was. He and a couple of friends went during the first snow fall up there and went up some roads (about 12 miles UP...!) that no one had been on, because, well,

(Pictures of Memaloose: DO YOU SEE THE DROP OFF?! Now imagine it at night time...THERE ARE NO STREET LIGHTS....NO WAY FOR ANYONE TO COME RESCUE YOU....!!!)
A) They're boys. Teenagers at that. Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, seems impossible to them.
B) They are teenagers and DID NOT THINK THINGS THROUGH THOROUGHLY.
C) They don't pay their own insurance. Their parents do.
So anywho....let me give you a little background. David is an amazing BIL. (Brother In Law). He's as Peter Priesthood as they get. In a good way. Walks the straight and narrow, never goes out of turn, is an amazing, great, wonderful guy, that I'm super happy to call younger brother. BUT...
He, like all his brothers before him, (and several other men too), thought he knew better than everyone else, and took his car up to 'play in the snow', during a snowstorm warning that was in effect. He figured he could get himself unstuck. So, imagine his chagrin, when he had to call his Mom on the Ham Radio (because you don't get cell phone reception up there! But LUCKILY he's a licensed Ham Radio Operator...) and have his brothers come and bail him out.
Only...
They couldn't because it was TEN O'CLOCK by the time they got up to his car. It was pitch black, and those roads are very narrow, there is NO LIGHT, and Stann followed the promptings of the spirit and got out of there...because they'd already pushed their luck that night and he was heck-bent on getting everyone down and back to safety.
So, FLASH FORWARD....
The next day, it had dumped about FOUR FEET OF SNOW on top of David's Explorer. And, needless to say, SINCE THEN....it's dumped a heck of a lot more. During the time between then and now, Stann has enlisted the aid of his brothers...trying to get up there, safely. The boys' brother James, has even gone so far as to jeri-rig a 'plow' (you read it right! It's a barrel sawed completely in half and bolted on to the front of his 1990 Ford F250.) to get themselves and their caravans further down the road.
Soooo....
We're definitely not lacking in the creativity department. Stann's younger brothers (like all younger brothers) think they can handle this on their own. So TODAY two of Stann's brothers went up to see if they could get the rig unstuck.
No problemo, right?!
WRONG.
If they had left at 7 AM this morning, we would've wished 'em Good Luck.
* They left at 2:30 PM (it takes an hour to just get up to the start of the road!)
* It gets dark at 5:30 PM.
If they had brought a Radio, they could be keeping in constant touch with us, so we know they're okay, and that they're being safe.
* They didn't bring a Ham Radio.
* It is now 11PM and I'm writing this tirade....
Which now brings me to the point of this sad, sad, tirade.
I now am going to lose a good nights sleep to worrying!!! The idiotic antics of my BIL's have now caused my husband to go up after his hare-brained, macho-minded, testosterone driven brothers James (He's 21 in March) and Shaun (He's 29 in July), who are OLD ENOUGH that they ought to KNOW BETTER!
Ugh!
In the dead of the night, in SNOW, driving feet away from cliffsides and drop offs....to go rescue his brothers, who shouldn't even be up there in the first place.
Now, please excuse me, I'm going to go pound some sense into my pillow, as it seems it won't do any good to do it to my BIL's.

HILARIOUS! I hope they are okay but you crack me up in your story telling! That is something my hubby would be doing. He says if you have shovel you can get yourself unstuck. MEN! OH did I say men I meant BOYS! LOL! Thanks for sharing. . .I hope you were able to stop worrying
Ohhhh Liz, this has me cracking up. Seriously, I think they're all the same. I still wonder when Seth is going to grow up. You'd think the hundreds of times I've had to say, "I told you so," would have taught him by now. . .but nope. Testosterone apparently overrules all logic.
I hope they get back okay.
Ah, William has received many last-minute calls asking for help in getting cars out of interesting places (both from his brothers...surprise, surprise! and his BILs) What is it with guys, snow, and getting stuck right at dusk?
Lucky you get to be married to the older brother. I have a feeling this is only one of the many sleepless nights to come caused by those boys.
Yeah, I miss those guys. They always reminded me of the family on "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers".
