I'm sick and tired. Of being sick and tired.
I had the world's worst cold. Sunday, I woke up and my tongue had gone numb (on top of the general unpleasantness of being sick with a cold/flu...), my ears were hurting - like they were plugged, and I was pretty much a cranky crab.
So imagine my surprise, Monday morning, as I saw my old neighbor and I smiled and then realized...
I couldn't smile.
{Panic!}
Half of my face wouldn't move.
{Still panicking!}
Even still, over half of my face won't move.
I have Bell's Palsy. (Not fun...or attractive!)
This "condition" is not fun. I'm not even speaking about the outward stuff. {Although, again, not attractive...being as half of my face is immovable and excessively relaxed....okay...so more droopy looking than relaxed).
It's painful.
Really, really painful. The pain radiates from my ear through my jaw. Add facial muscle twitching, excessive tiredness, bouts of dry eye or excessive tearing, and the inability to effectively communicate.... from slurring and my inability to pronounciate anything....and the general feeling as if I'd had a Mack Truck run over me and park itself on my jaw....
And you now have a glimpse of my last 4 days.
How did I get this, you might ask?!
It's a virus. Not the contagious 'CDC' kind.... Some people are just more predisposed to it than others. Ages 15-60 are more apt to get it. AND....once you get it....you have the ability to have it more than once.
Treatment: None really. You have to let it run its course. Although, according to the specialist my sister saw in NYC, a diet that is high in Vitamin C from berries may help it move on quicker. As well as Vitamin B12, B6 and Zinc.
So there you have it.
If you see me - don't worry about asking about it. However, as it is painful to talk, I thought I'd give the down-lo, to spare my jaw the hurt of repeating the same things over and over again. In fact, I'm now down to letting Kathie and Stann explain.
Bright side: Stann says its the first he's been able to get a word in edge wise...(ha, ha).
Other bright side....
Less mascara consumption on my part. ;) (lol)
